Taifa Food Company Ltd, located in Mwanza, Tanzania, is a private limited liability company incorporated on 17th September 2019 under the Company Act 2002 of Tanzania. The company intends to produce a wide variety of good quality, safe value-added and regular fresh and frozen Nile perch fish and fishery products. Targeted markets are the export wholesale and retail European market, Middle East, Far East, and USA, as well as distribution to the local and regional markets in neighbouring countries. The location and layout of the establishment provides adequate space and working environment for production of value-added products without a risk of cross-contamination.
The Process
The processing plant has an IQF freezing capacity of 14 tons per 9-hour shift (2 blast freezers @ 4T/9hr, 1 blast freezer @ 6T/9hr) and an IWP freezing capacity of 9 tons per 9-hour shift (2 contact plate freezers @ 4.5T/9hr). The plant boasts a storage capacity of over 500 tons of final product in the form of a 250 ton cold room and 250 ton cold-cum-chilled room. To ensure a high quality of product is maintained, state-of-the-art flake ice plants are available to supply 60 tons per 24 hours, to maintain product temperature throughout the entire process. The establishment has a reliable safe water supply program and pollution management program. The company intends to start operations with a workforce of minimum 100 employees with varying education levels and professional skills.

Induction and regular on – the job training of workers on different skills, basic hygiene and food handling shall be conducted and emphasis shall be on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs) as pre-requisites and HACCP as food safety tools.
